There are hundreds of different ways to get back links to your website but here are a few of the easiest and cheapest methods to start getting lots of back links pointing back to you at a record pace.

OFFER FREEBIES

People love free things and might end up promoting the page that they are found on. If you have a free ebook, free report, or free music download, you can start promoting on relevant bulletin boards or blogs and get some backlinks this way. It does take a bit of work, but the word “free” does tend to draw people out of the woodwork.

DO INTERVIEWS

If you find a great PageRank site with some professionals or academics that are trying to get the word out about their wares, you can do an interview and post in on your site. This type of promotion gives them a link and they will link back to you to show their readers that they are being interviewed, providing more credibility and free content for them. So, although it’s not a great strategy for one-way links, you can get some good reciprocal links this way.

WRITE TESTIMONIALS

If you’ve bought the products or services of a particular site, you can leave a testimonial sometimes. This can backfire if the testimonials are edited to delete links back to other sites, but it’s worth a try.

DO ASK

Lastly, don’t be shy. If you want a link on a particular website, it doesn’t hurt to ask. All they can say is “no.” Maybe you have something to offer the webmaster that you don’t even know about. Maybe you catch them in a good mood. Most likely, you won’t even receive a reply, but you never know until you ask. And, when they do reply you might start a dialogue about what types of things webmasters are looking for in your niche in order to merit a backlink. It may be different, depending on the area you are promoting.
